Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease and the most common form of dementia. AD is pathologically characterized by the deposition of pathogenic Aβ peptides that are derived from larger integral membrane proteins, termed β-amyloid precursor proteins (APPs).
