Chronic skin wounds are characterized by poor re-epithelialization, angiogenesis and granulation. Previous work has demonstrated that topical stromal cell-derived growth factor-1 (SDF1) promotes neovascularization, resulting in faster re-epithelialization of skin wounds in diabetic mice.
