Antibiotic resistance represents a serious global health concern and has stimulated the development of antimicrobial nanomaterials to combat resistant bacteria. Protein-based nanoparticles combining characteristics of both proteins and nanoparticles offer advantages including high biocompatibility, attractive biodegradability, enhanced bioavailability and functional versatility.
