l-lactate plays an important role as metabolite and signaling molecule in eukaryotes and bacteria. Monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs) of the SLC16 solute carrier family are responsible for the transport of l-lactate across eukaryotic and bacterial cell membranes. Here we report an efficient protocol for the expression and purification of an SLC16 family homologue in milligram amounts.
