Cirsitakaoside is a natural compound isolated from Premna szemaoensis. However, the anti-inflammatory effects of cirsitakaoside are poorly understood. We investigated the anti-inflammatory action of cirsitakaoside in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages and mice in vivo. Cirsitakaoside could suppress the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in a dose-dependent manner in LPS-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages and RAW264.7 cells.
