BACKGROUND: It has been noted that dysregulation of microRNAs (miRNAs) contributes to the formation of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), a vascular disease associated with progressive aortic dilatation and degradation, and pathological infiltration and activation of inflammatory cells, such as macrophages.
