The international market for patient-derived xenograft (PDX) services is growing, and commercial providers of PDX are increasingly playing a role in the use and advancement of this technology. In this chapter, we present the results of a survey circulated to industry providers of PDX services to gather data on technical aspects of PDX model development as well as platform-related questions regarding inventory, cancer type selection, and services offered. Through the use of this survey, and also based on an interview with scientists in the industry, we present opinions of challenges associated with the platform and future directions anticipated within the PDX space to address these challenges.
