Production of full-length H5 in E. coli and purification by FPLC. It has been suggested that full-length chicken H5 cannot be expressed in E. coli. We expressed codon-optimized H5 in E. coli BL21DE3, obtaining high levels of full-length H5. The protein was purified by (NH4 )2 SO4 precipitation and two FPLC steps.
