Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin disease. Infiltration of inflammatory cells and excessive proliferation of keratinocytes are the histopathological markers of psoriasis. The transcription factor Wilms Tumor 1 (WT1) is overexpressed in several tumor types, and plays an important part in the proliferation and apoptosis of cells. Studies have found that, compared with normal skin, WT1expression in the skin lesions of patients with psoriasis are increased significantly.
