The potent promoter and its transcriptional control make a significant contribution to strain optimization. Using transcriptomebased approach, a novel pentose-regulated promoter of the xylose reductase gene () of  was identified. The promoter analysis showed that the  was tightly regulated by pentose sugars, which xylose and xylan were favorable inducers. The  function was highly efficient as compared with the maltose-inducible promoters of .
