Cirrhosis is a familiar end-stage of multiple chronic liver diseases. The gene-modified mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have become one of the most promising schemes for the treatment of cirrhosis. MSCs exhibit their therapeutic role mainly by secreting hepatocyte growth factor (HGF).
