S100A8, S100A9, and S100A12 proteins are important members of the S100 protein family, act primarily as congenital immunomodulators, and are closely related to the occurrence of infectious diseases. There have been few reports on the functional properties of S100A8, S100A9, and S100A12 proteins in swine, but it is certain that porcine S100A8, S100A9, and S100A12 proteins are highly expressed in diseased swine.
